The above photo is of an ad for my fav’ mas-produced Aussie Beer. Coopers Pale Ale.

I picked up a couple of this seasonal brew the other day. Apparently Coopers creates this beer every year in September. It has a similar alcohol texture and taste to a bock, but still enjoys that rich Coopers ale flavour.
I really enjoyed this beer. It would be great to sip over dinner rather than to drink at the pub.
On a side note, I am leaving Sydney & for that matter Australia at the end of December. I am moving to Frankfurt, Germany to take up a new job there.
The site will continue to function and will mainly contain information about biers from Germany & Europe. And maybe a few Aussie beers when I can

The above shot shows what should happen to poorly made beer. In this case a Toheeys New has been shown the exit.

Of the main stream Australian beers I am a huge fan of the South Australian made Coopers Pale Ale. I think it has something to do with the fact that unlike most of the so-called main stream beers, there are no preservatives in Pale Ale.
Note the distinctive “Frosted Tap”. Somewhat of an advertising invention and visual representation of ‘cold beer’.

I spent Monday night at the Bavarian Bier Café indulging in a fantastic evening of bier tasting and coaching on the fine art of bier drinking during the December sesssion of Bier Akademie.
If you are interested in learning more about the finer biers from Germany, check out the Akademie.

I visited the Heritage Restaurant, part of the Belgian Beer Cafe group of bars the other evening. Not only do they have a great food menu, but their beer menu is one of the most expansive in Sydney.
I had one of my favourite Belgian beers, an amber called Kwak.
